1. Pick the right hook & yarn Start with a 4 mm (G/6) ergonomic hook and medium-weight cotton yarn — it’s smooth, shows stitches clearly, and doesn’t split.
2. Light colors first White, cream, or pastel lets you see every loop. Dark yarn hides mistakes (and progress!).
3. Tension is your friend Hold yarn loosely around your pinky, over the back of your hand. Too tight = sore hands; too loose = wobbly stitches. Practice 10 chains until they look even.
4. Count out loud “One… two… three…” for every stitch in a round. Use a stitch marker (a safety pin works!) to mark the first stitch.

6. Stuff as you go Add filling every 3–4 rounds. Overstuffing makes lumps; understuffing makes floppy toys. Aim for “huggable firm.”
7. Weave ends inside Thread tail through a yarn needle, poke into the piece, zigzag 3–4 times, trim. No tails poking out!
8. Frog fearlessly “Rip it, rip it” = unravel. Mistakes are free lessons. Pull back to the error, fix, keep going.
9. 15 minutes a day One coffee break = one small round. In a week, you’ll have a finished ball. Momentum > perfection.
